Top 5 Skincare Basics You Wish You Knew Sooner

2022 has just kicked off and this only means-New Year, new skincare trends, and routines. Yep, new skincare products are promising amazing results, but beyond those chemical-based formulas, it might also be helpful if you stick to skincare basics. Here goes:

Make cleansing a habit.

You might have been told time and again that it's essential to cleanse your face regularly to get rid of impurities, but do you know how often you should wash your face? If you're exposed to outdoor pollution, dirt, and grime, then there's a greater chance sebum already sits on the surface of your skin. Yikes!

Washing once isn't enough. You can remove more than just surface dirt if you wash your face twice? Why? The first wash only removes surface dirt, but with a second wash, you'll remove sebum and leftover dirt. Not only that, you'll also get rid of any unwanted substance from makeup.

When applying a cleanser, be sure it's water-based. Once you combine your water-based cleanser with other skincare products, the active ingredients will penetrate your skin and deeply cleanse your face.

You might also need some help from MINISO's Cat's Claw Silicone Facial Cleanser. It's gentle on your skin but tough on dirt and nasty substance. It provides deep cleansing so your skin will experience deep exfoliation for a brighter and even skin tone. It's an all-in-one system that rejuvenates your skin so you'll look fresher and more youthful.

Apply products in the right order.

Compare your skincare routine to building a house, it should in the proper order or it will collapse. A perfect example is when you apply a moisturizer before applying an eye cream. The active ingredient in the eye cream won't be able to penetrate your skin because of the occlusive ingredient in your moisturizer. When applying skincare products, this should be the proper order:

  • Cleanser
  • Toner
  • Spot Cream
  • Serum
  • Eye Cream
  • Moisturizer
  • Oil
  • SPF

Give product a few minutes to absorb into your skin before applying the next skincare product.

Identify your skin type.

Ever wondered why some skincare products you're using are not as effective as they should be? It might have to do with your skin type. Each of us has a unique skin type and they change over time. Have a look at specific skin type categories so you'll know which skincare product is right for you. Whether you have dry, oily, acne-prone, or normal skin, using the right product allows you to reap the full benefits of these skincare products.

Don't forget to exfoliate.

Exfoliating at least once a week gets rid of dead skin cells that block your pores and also promotes skin renewal. Exfoliation brightens your complexion  by removing dirt and bacteria that can cause breakouts. Exfoliating your skin should depend on your skin type. If you have oily skin, you should exfoliate at two or three times a week. If you have dry skin, you should only cleanse once a week.

Wear sunscreen.

Did you know that melanoma rates still continue to climb? It's a reminder that we should always wear sunscreen whenever you go outside because excess sun exposure can penetrate your skin and cause damage. When applying sunscreen onto your face, choose a lightweight SPF formula.

Give your skin some TLC and you'll be surprised. Most acne breakouts are caused by sebum build up so imagine how cleansing can go a long way. How about you? What's your skincare routine? We love to hear them.
