Good Hygiene Practices To Follow To Reduce The Spread Of Viruses

Many Australians have been seriously alarmed by the growing number of COVID-19 cases since December. Each and every household is also following some good hygiene practices to stop the spread of germs. With most people left with no choice but to stay at home, there are preventive measures that can slow or even stop the spread of infections and these methods go beyond hand washing.

Slow the spread of infections with these steps.

1. Get vaccinated.

Vaccines are known for strengthening your immune system so you'll have a defense against coronavirus. If you haven't gotten your vaccine yet, now's the time to consider it.

2. Wash your hands.

Germs can spread faster than we know. And our hands are the number one bacteria and germ catcher. Make it a habit to wash your hands frequently using antibacterial soap.

3. Practice social distancing.

Even at home, we still have to practice social distancing, which means staying more than 2 metres or 6 feet apart when appropriate.

4. Use a tissue when you sneeze or cough.

We're used to coughing or sneezing into our hands, but to with the spread of coronavirus, we need to be extra careful. Turn away from other people when you cough or sneeze to prevent the spread of the virus. Don't forget to wash your hands after sneezing or coughing as well.

5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with your unwashed hands.

Viruses can enter our body from our unwashed hands so be sure to keep your hands clean all the time.

There are also some additional measures to keep in mind when cleaning and disinfecting. We can minimise transmission of germs by disinfecting touch points like door, cupboard handles, sinks objects, counters, and much more. At home, clean floors, doorknobs, and walls using bleach solution or disinfectants.

Check out this guide so you’ll know the essential items to stock up during lockdown. It also includes the disinfectants and sanitisers to choose to keep yourself protected against viruses.
